The 3 keys to sustained consistency.

3 Questions To Ask To Unlock Consistency in Your Business
In every business, consistency is key. And in every business, consistency is the result of planning ahead and executing diligently.
If you can stick to daily and weekly routines to master financial management, invest time effectively, and deliver phenomenal customer experiences, you’ve eliminated an awful lot of stress and chaos that would otherwise hold you back.
Here are three questions to help you build stronger, more consistent business habits.
1. Where are you going?
If you don’t know where the target is, it’s hard to know which actions are taking you closer and what’s slowing you down.
You wouldn’t set off in a ship and start wondering where the next port is halfway through the journey – and you shouldn’t do it in your business either.
Dealing with short-term challenges naturally pulls your focus away from the horizon. It’s important to get out the telescope once in a while and check in on those big results you’re steering toward, so you don’t drift off course.
You Need…
A set of guiding principles (some combination of a vision and mission, core values, or purpose statement).
A clear set of SMART goals for at least one year ahead.
2. Who will help you get there?
Your business today is perfectly suited to achieve today’s results. But what’s the size and composition of the company that will easily step up to the next level? And in the short term, what changes do you need to make to your team?
You might realize you’re ready to hire for a new role, give someone new responsibilities, or let go of someone who isn’t keeping up.
You Need…
Up-to-date job descriptions and organizational chart. (If you’re growing, you might need a current org chart and one showing where you’ll be in 1-2 years.)
3. How will it get done?
Once you know where you’re going and who you’ll have on the team, you can get granular about the specific daily and weekly tasks and routines on which you’ll need the most focus.
You Need…
3-5 clear KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for everyone on the team
“How to” guides or checklists for frequent or important tasks
Accountability through a management system including regular one-on-one meetings

This Week’s Takeaway
Starting out knowing your destination allows you to steer toward it more efficiently. You’ll avoid timewasters and costly mistakes by focusing on the daily and weekly routines that will get you there.
