How Strong is Your Inner Circle?

No one is an island, and you can’t win at business by going it alone.

You’ve probably heard the sayings:

“Your network is your net worth.”

“You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

They’ve become clichés for a reason – they’re true. The people around you shape how you think, what you believe is possible, and the standards you hold yourself to.

Stop to Think

If you became more like the people you spend the most time with, would that be a good thing?

Here’s why their influence matters –

The people in your inner circle drive the quality and intensity of your beliefs and dreams about your future. Your vision stretches and expands when you’re around people who believe anything is possible.

That upgraded vision forces you to ask higher quality questions. What would it actually take to move one step closer?

Great questions lead naturally to higher quality decisions and actions, which generate high quality results.

So to get high quality results, you’ve got to start at the beginning, by surrounding yourself with the people who will help you become the person who can achieve them.

Take the Quiz: How Strong is Your Inner Circle?

Use these six questions to take a quick inventory of your inner circle. And be honest!

If you can easily answer all of them, nurture those relationships.

But if you’re not sure or can’t answer, consider investing some time and energy into choosing and strengthening your connections.

  1. Who regularly exposes you to new ideas or ways of thinking?

  2. Whose habits or mindset do you wish you could install for yourself?

  3. Who celebrates your growth without jealousy or judgement?

  4. Do you have someone who challenges your thinking instead of just agreeing with you?

  5. Who asks better questions than you do?

  6. Who helps you act like the person you’re trying to become?

Remember that strong networks don’t happen by accident. They’re built through intentional commitment to the people who make you think harder, reach higher, and stay grounded.

This Week’s Takeaway

The people you spend time with shape your vision for what’s possible.

That’s why community matters. Spending time with inspiring people is like refueling on the energy that powers you on your business journey.
